October Is The Right Time To Invest In The Leadership Of Women

Workplace gender disparities and challenges faced by women have been under the spotlight. Research indicates that women often encounter obstacles and burnout at work. However, there's a powerful solution in women's leadership training. Based on insights gathered from over 200 women who have completed women's leadership programs and corroborated by research, these initiatives prove to be transformative.

At the Executive Women’s Leadership Program (EWLP), hosted by the GWU Center for Excellence in Public Leadership, scheduled for October 18-20, 2023, and May 1-3, 2024, the focus is on experienced executives poised for greater leadership responsibilities. The curriculum covers a broad spectrum of essential topics including executive presence, negotiation skills, resilience, and fostering a growth mindset. These components are key in preparing women for leadership roles and play a significant role in improving job satisfaction, mitigating burnout, and enhancing vital skills in communication, management, and collaboration, particularly in the context of remote and hybrid work environments.

For those women in the early stages of their careers, the Women Leaders on the Rise (WRISE) program, scheduled for May 7-8, 2024, provides the necessary tools and strategies for successful management while addressing any limiting beliefs that may hinder their progress.

Distinguished guest speakers contribute valuable insights to the programs. Notable speakers in the October EWLP program include:

  • Liane Davey, a New York Times best-selling author and Harvard Business Review contributor, addressing “Leading and Building Trust with Remote Teams.”

  • Betsy Myers, former executive director of the Center for Public Leadership at Harvard’s Kennedy School, addressing "Employee Engagement."

  • Kathy Baird, Chief Communications Officer at The Washington Post, sharing insights on "Igniting Courage Within to Create the Career You Love."

  • Jane Latz, a communication expert featured in the Wall Street Journal and The Today Show, speaking on "Effective Communication in Today’s Remote/Hybrid Workplace."

The programs also benefit from the expertise of Leslie Grossman, renowned author and Faculty Director, who interweaves strategies around Breakthrough Leadership Tenets for Women throughout the program.

What truly sets the GW CEPL programs apart is the commitment to ongoing support and growth opportunities. Participants have the option to extend their learning experience with a Mastermind Coaching program offered in a live online format, spanning six months. This extension empowers participants to apply their newfound insights in real-life scenarios, build stronger professional relationships, collaboratively solve challenges, and seize new opportunities with the support of their peers.
