Small Acts of Courage Memoir Book Launch Featuring MSNBC's Ali Velshi CommPRO PRophet

"Small Acts of Courage" is Ali Velshi's self-deprecatory, humorous, but deadly serious new memoir about the fight for truth and justice. TV anchor and host Velshi is a veteran Foreign Press Association member and a genuine citizen of the world. His family worked with Mahatma Gandhi fighting the beginnings of Apartheid in South Africa before moving to East Africa to meet new forms of discrimination. Moving from there to Canada, his family were pioneering Indian-origin politicians in Pierre Trudeau's multi-ethnic experiment, before he took up a new job with CNN in New York on September 11, 2001.

Velshi has been proving that there is more to being an anchorman and TV host than reciting copy from governments and corporations. With CNN, MSNBC, Al-Jazeera, and others, he has been on the frontlines of some of the most significant social events of the day. In Minnesota, he was struck by a rubber bullet during the BLM protests.

At the event, the FPA will be recognizing Velshi with its 2024 Sharp Pen Award for his Contributions to Journalism.

"'Small Acts of Courage' should make everyone in the media smile appreciatively; we are not there just to fill the gaps between commercials. Ali renews our sense of purpose, and faith in journalism."
— Ian Williams, President FPA
