In Loving Memory of Mark Weiner
It is with profound sadness that I share the passing of our dear friend, Mark Weiner on December 10. Mark's departure has left an irreplaceable void in the realm of corporate and brand communications, a field he passionately enriched with his wisdom.
Mark was a revered research-based communications consultant and devoted his professional life to raising the bar in corporate communications. He introduced a data-informed foundation that shaped the strategies of some of the world's most prominent companies and brands. He was instrumental in guiding clients toward generating a positive return on their communication investments.
As a prolific author, Mark penned two influential books, "PR Technology, Data and Insights: Igniting a Positive Return on your Communications Investment'' and "Unleashing the Power of PR: A Contrarian’s Guide to Marketing and Communication." Both works earned prestigious places on Book Authority’s list of the 100 top PR books in history. Mark's contributions extended beyond his books, encompassing numerous white papers, articles, and chapters in several academic texts.
Mark was a respected member of the Arthur Page Society, a Trustee for the Institute for Public Relations (honored with the Felton Medal for Lifetime Achievement in 2018), and a prominent figure in the PR News Hall of Fame. His influence extended into academia through his advisory role on the board of the University of Florida School of Communication. Mark's commitment to knowledge-sharing was evident in his role as a frequent lecturer at international PR conferences and professional development programs.
Formerly serving as Chief Insights Officer at Cision and as the esteemed CEO of PRIME Research and Delahaye, Mark's illustrious career began with The New York Times News Service. His impact on the industry was immeasurable, leaving an indelible mark that will be remembered for generations to come.
Mark's personal life was equally fulfilling. He shared his journey with his beloved wife, Braden. As a devoted father, Mark was incredibly proud of the accomplishments of his two sons, Graham and Cameron. He was a cherished friend, always ready to help others.
Mark Weiner's legacy will endure through the knowledge he shared, the many lives he touched, and the transformative impact he had on the field of corporate and brand communications. He will be profoundly missed by his family, friends, colleagues, and the countless individuals he inspired throughout his remarkable life.
May Mark Weiner’s memory be a blessing. Rest in peace, my dear friend.
The family intends to host a private funeral this week, followed by a memorial service in January with colleagues and friends. Updates will be provided as more details become available.
