Leading women's media company SheKnows Media, announced that it has opened the Call for Entries for the third-annual #Femvertising Awards.  This year’s awards program was announced last month on March 8, International Women’s Day.

Based on a word SheKnows Media brought to the public in 2014, the #Femvertising Awards pay tribute to brands, agencies and organizations that break down gender stereotypes through pro-female advertising.

This year, SheKnows Media is expanding the scope of the awards with the addition of the new #Normvertising category,  This category was created to honor advertising that challenges societal norms while rejecting notions and labels associated with race, sexual orientation and religious beliefs.

The following panel of advertising executives and industry thought leaders will help SheKnows Media determine the 2017 #Femvertising Awards finalists, which will be announced in August when the public voting phase of the awards program begins:

  • Arianna Huffington, Founder of The Huffington Post and Founder and CEO of Thrive Global
  • Jodi Harris, Head of Consumer Insights at AB InBev USA
  • Lisa Sherman, President and CEO of the Ad Council
  • Madonna Badger, Chief Creative Officer and Founder of Badger & Winters
  • Maria Bello, Actor, Activist, Writer
  • Nanette Braun, Chief, Communications and Advocacy at UN Women
  • Reshma Saujani, Founder and CEO of Girls Who Code

The public will determine the winners of the 2017 #Femvertising Awards via public vote. The winning campaigns will be announced during the 2017 Advertising Week New York conference September 25-29. More than 170 brands and agencies from Always to Bud Light to Dove to RAM Trucks to Under Armour – have summited their work, and more than 20,000 votes from the public have been cast.

“We launched the #Femvertising Awards in response to a growing need for advertising that inspires and empowers women and girls, while also driving productive audience engagement. We don’t believe a company, or advertiser, needs to choose between profit and social responsibility. The best companies do both,” said Samantha Skey, President and Chief Revenue Officer, SheKnows Media. “The response over the last three years has been incredible – from the brands and agencies that look forward to submitting every year, to the judges who help us make the finalist selection, to the consumers who want smarter advertising that rejects gender stereotypes from companies that are willing to walk the walk with their corporate policies. I am pleased to welcome such an incredible panel of judges to this year’s awards program, and to expand the concept of #Femvertising through the addition of the #Normvertising category.”
