PRSA-NY Opens Submissions for 38th Annual Big Apple Awards, Honoring Excellence in PR

The Public Relations Society of America’s New York Chapter (PRSA-NY) has officially opened submissions for the 38th Annual Big Apple Awards, the premier celebration of communications excellence across the New York metro area. Public relations professionals, agencies, and in-house teams are encouraged to submit their most outstanding campaigns, with early bird discounts available through April 18, 2025. The final deadline for entries is May 11, 2025.

This year’s theme, Elevate & Evolve: Honoring PR Excellence in a Changing Landscape, highlights the industry’s adaptability in navigating shifting media dynamics, emerging platforms, and the impact of technological advancements like artificial intelligence. The awards will recognize the professionals and campaigns that have set new standards in creativity, strategic execution, and measurable impact.

“New York City is the world’s communications capital, and the Big Apple Awards are designed to celebrate the excellent work that professionals in the city do for their clients every day,” said Ken Kerrigan, APR, President of PRSA-NY. “From healthcare to professional services to consumer activations, these professionals work tirelessly to elevate public discourse on the issues that matter most, while consistently seeking to evolve how we communicate across both traditional and emerging media channels.”

Celebrating Excellence in Public Relations

The Big Apple Awards have long been regarded as a benchmark for PR excellence, showcasing the most impactful campaigns that drive conversations and shape industries. The 2024 awards honored a diverse range of groundbreaking campaigns, from cause-driven initiatives in healthcare and social justice to innovative brand activations that leveraged digital storytelling and AI-powered engagement strategies.

Among last year’s standout winners were Edelman for its work in crisis communications, 360PR+ for its innovative consumer marketing campaigns, and Notified for its role in advancing PR technology. The awards gala provided an evening of networking, recognition, and celebration of those pushing the boundaries of modern communications.

Judging and Industry Recognition

Submissions will be reviewed by a panel of senior-level PR professionals, ensuring an objective and rigorous evaluation process. Judges are selected based on their experience and expertise across a variety of disciplines, with safeguards in place to prevent conflicts of interest.

Additionally, PRSA-NY will open nominations later this spring for the 15 Under 35 Awards, which recognize the most ambitious and inspirational young PR professionals in the New York metro area. The initiative is made possible through the support of official sponsor PRophet.

The Big Apple Awards gala will take place this September, bringing together top industry professionals for a night of recognition and celebration.
